世界的にも知られる画家、伊藤若冲。
昔からの言い伝えで、彼は一時期、ここ京田辺市・普賢寺に住んでいたと語られてきました。
お金に困り、一枚の絵と引き換えにお米をもらいながら、細々と暮らしていたーーそんな昔話のような逸話は、長い間「真実かどうか分からない謎」でした。
しかし数年前、伊東家の蔵掃除の際に若冲の絵が発見されます。
それはまさに “お米と交換された絵”に違いないものでした。
この地に若冲が暮らしていたという言い伝え
は、ここで確かな事実へと変わったのです。
そんな物語を秘めた町一一普賢寺。

Ito Jakuchu is a world-renowned painter.
An ancient legend has it that he once lived here in Fugenji in Kyotanabe City.
Struggling for money, he scraped by, getting by on rice in exchange for a painting.
For a long time, this folktale-like anecdote remained a mystery, with no one knowing whether it was true or not.
However, a few years ago, a painting by Jakuchu was discovered during a cleanout of the Ito family’s storehouse.
It was undoubtedly the painting that was exchanged for rice.
The legend that Jakuchu lived here was now confirmed as solid fact.
Fugenji is a town that harbors such a story.
